Routine Maintenance of Transformer Testers

Routine maintenance of transformer testers directly affects measurement accuracy and equipment lifespan. Proper maintenance can effectively prevent data deviations, equipment malfunctions, and safety hazards. The following are maintenance points based on the general characteristics of various transformer testing instruments:

Pre- and Post-Use Inspections to Ensure Normal Equipment Condition

Visual Inspection: Before each use, check the instrument casing for damage, the display screen for cracks, and the buttons for responsiveness. Avoid physical damage affecting operation.

Wiring Inspection: Focus on checking the insulation of the test leads for aging or cracks, and the alligator clips for looseness or oxidation. Prevent poor contact that could lead to measurement errors or leakage risks.

Power Supply Confirmation: Ensure the battery is fully charged (ideally not less than 20%), or that the power adapter connection is stable. Avoid power outages during testing that could cause data loss.

Standardized Operating Procedures to Reduce Human Error

Correct Wiring:When connecting the transformer under test, pay attention to distinguishing between the high-voltage and low-voltage ends, ensuring polarity matching, and avoid reverse connection that could damage the instrument.

Preheating and Stabilization: After powering on, allow the instrument to run for 3-5 minutes until the internal circuitry stabilizes before starting testing to improve data accuracy.

Avoid Interference: Keep the instrument away from strong electromagnetic fields (such as power distribution cabinets and high-power transformers). Test leads should be as short as possible and kept away from interference sources to prevent signal distortion.

Regular Cleaning and Maintenance for Best Performance:
Surface Cleaning: After use, wipe the instrument casing and terminals with a dry, soft cloth to remove dust and oil. Do not use corrosive solvents such as alcohol or acetone.

Terminal Maintenance: Disassemble the connection terminals quarterly. Use fine sandpaper to polish oxidized contacts, then wipe with anhydrous ethanol swabs to restore conductivity.

Heat Management: Regularly check for blockages in the ventilation holes. Use a hairdryer on the cool setting to clean accumulated dust and ensure good ventilation.
