Types Of Transformer Oil Testers

Transformer oil testers can be categorized into several types based on the different testing items. Each instrument corresponds to specific performance indicators and testing requirements, and is widely used in power systems, transformer manufacturing, and operation and maintenance. The following are the main types and their functional descriptions:

Basic Physical Performance Testing Instruments
These instruments are used to evaluate the basic physicochemical properties of transformer oil, ensuring its stability and fluidity under different environments.

Densitometer: Measures oil density, determining the tendency of impurity precipitation and low-temperature fluidity.

Kinematic Viscometer: Detects oil viscosity, reflecting heat dissipation efficiency.

Flash Point Tester: Determines the flammability of oil, ensuring operational safety (e.g., open-cup flash point should be ≥136℃).

Chemical Performance Testing Instruments
These instruments are used to analyze changes in the chemical composition of oil, assessing the degree of aging and corrosion risk.

Acid Value Tester: Detects the content of acidic substances in oil using acid-base titration, with a measurement range typically from 0.001 to 2.000 mgKOH/g.

Oxidation Stability Tester: Simulates accelerated oxidation processes to evaluate the oil's resistance to aging.

Interfacial Tensiometer: Detects the interfacial tension between oil and water, indirectly reflecting the tendency for sludge formation.

Electrical Performance Testing Instruments
This is the core part of transformer oil testing, directly related to the reliability of the insulation system.

Breakdown Voltage Tester (also known as Oil Withstand Voltage Tester): Determines the dielectric strength of the oil. New oil generally requires ≥40kV. Complies with GB/T 507 standard.

Dielectric Loss Factor Tester: Measures the dielectric loss tangent (tgδ), assessing the content of polar impurities. High-voltage equipment requires tgδ ≤4%.

Volume Resistivity Tester: Tests insulation performance. 500kV equipment requires ≥1×10¹⁰Ω·m.
