Applications Of Transformer Oil Testers

Transformer oil testers are key devices used to evaluate the performance of transformer oil, helping to determine whether the oil possesses good insulation and chemical stability, ensuring the safe operation of power equipment.

The main applications of these instruments include the following:

Detecting the Dielectric Strength of Insulating Oil: By measuring the withstand voltage of insulating oil under high voltage, it determines whether it can effectively prevent electrical breakdown. This type of test is commonly used in the routine maintenance of high-voltage equipment such as transformers, oil circuit breakers, and oil-filled cables. Equipment such as the "Transformer Oil Dielectric Strength Tester" can automatically complete voltage boosting and record breakdown voltage values, and is widely used in power supply sites and laboratories.

Measuring the Dielectric Loss Factor (tgδ) and Capacitance (Cx): Using a transformer oil dielectric loss tester, the dielectric loss tangent and capacitance parameters of the oil can be measured under high-voltage power frequency, reflecting the degree of aging and contamination of the oil. This indicator is of great significance for the early detection of insulation defects. The integrated design of the instrument combines temperature control, a test bridge, and a standard capacitor, improving measurement accuracy.

Assessing Oil Acid Value: Acid value is a crucial indicator of the oxidation level of transformer oil. Excessively high acid values can corrode internal metal components and generate sludge. Transformer oil acid value testers can automatically perform titration, endpoint determination, and result printing, making them suitable for power system and petrochemical enterprise laboratories.

Comprehensive Assessment of Oil Deterioration Trends: During long-term operation, insulating oil's performance gradually declines due to factors such as temperature, humidity, oxygen, and electric fields. Regular testing with multiple instruments can promptly detect oil aging, moisture absorption, or contamination, preventing major equipment failures.
